Meet Moira
My name is Moira, and I live in France. Born and educated in the UK, after graduating in International Business, I pursued my first career working with corporations in the USA, Africa and Europe before entering the field of education and obtaining an M.Ed in ELT. I teach undergraduate and graduate students of engineering, architecture and business in three Grandes Ecoles (specialised universities) in Paris and coach in-company executives, both f2f and online. I really started getting interested in online teaching some four years ago. I took my first 'real' online course LeTTOL (Learning to Teach Online) and have never looked back since
Before this course, I had decided to set up a wiki with wikispaces just for me to keep everything in one place as my personal 'dynamic library of thoughts and toys', so I'm really happy we're using a wiki here. I had intended to use wikispaces with some students, but as pbwiki is being used here, I'll use it with my students so I can kill two birds with one stone and learn with you and share my experiences.

It's 17 September and I have changed from a wiki to a blog, but a blog with a difference.
You can find it at http://www.moirahunter.multiply.com
At the moment, you can only see the front page because this is the way I set it up. If you don't like the music, just click on the speaker and a red cross will indicate that the audio has been stopped. If you would like to see the content, I can invite you by email or you can directly set up your own and add me to your contacts.
I am still playing with this but this is what I wrote in it today :-

This blog is part of the course requirements, so here goes.
I remember looking at the course outline and some of the content from last year on Vance's pages where I saw familiar faces/names had participated. I also remember thinking that if THEY felt confused, I would be swamped!
Well, here I am doing the course :-) Now Vance is already sending out signals that we are not vocal enough. Well, I've been doing the reading, following the messages and procrastinating as usual.
This is the problem - it's like being in a sweet shop and not knowing which to choose and this has always been my dilemma with all these tools which swamp us every day with their latest offerings.
I had already started a wiki in wikispaces and as the TESOL courses were using pbwiki, I used that, although I don't particularly like it.
Then I came across this. I am always rather suspicious of 'share all' tools as I fear being buried under a load of spam and unwanted 'contacts'. However, I love the feel of this! It's absolutely down my street of technology - the quick click clique ;-)
I also love the spell check as I normally type so fast that I make mistakes all over the place and my old cat sprawls across the keyboard too!
I have therefore decided that the answer to "What is multiliteracy" is me! I have decided that I don't like writing blogs, although I love reading some. This http://moira.edublogs.org/ was my first attempt to seriously blog and I was really frustrated. I didn't know how to bring or if I should bring people back to the scenario I had outlined as some postings were 'way off' and I didn't know how to continue: should I post a follow up, should I post another subject? So, I decided, rightly or wrongly, that this type of blogging was not for someone with my daily timetable.
At the moment, I feel 'happy' writing here, so now I'm going to set it up so that only the course members can see this. So I hope you are all ready to play with me here.
